Make Pest Control Ads That Convert in 3 Steps

I absolutely love making pest control ads.

Why?

Because it’s so freaking EASY.

Who the hell wants cockroaches or mosquitos infesting their home? No one.

The service almost sells itself, you just need to build awareness. So many companies advertise pest control with a cute little cartoonish ad. This isn’t Bugs Life, we’re building a business here.

A good pest control ad makes your skin crawl.

A great pest control ad rakes in money.

  1. Compelling Copy

The details do not matter.

Almost no one cares how you are going to get rid of the insects in their home - they just want them gone. Move your focus from the “how” to the benefits.

Here are a couple benefits of pest control:

  • Reduced illness and disease

  • Less money than DIY control

  • They can finally feel comfortable at home

  • Safer than self-application

  • Better sleep

Most people are terrified of bugs - lean heavily into their fear. Even as I write this post, I’m thinking about how much I despise seeing a cockroach in my house.

YOU have the solution, so tell them you exist.

Here are a couple examples that call for action.

  • “A few cockroaches could be a serious infestation - don’t wait to call professional help! Book an appointment now.”

  • “Tick season is Lyme season - protect you and your family. Get a quote NOW.”

2. An Eye-Catching Image

Another reason I love marketing pest control - the pictures basically sell themselves.

The ad image is the first thing they’ll see, so don’t waste it on something gimmicky.

Here’s part of an ad that we made using Canva (you’re free to use it). It’s concise and sticks out like a sore thumb. You have an idea of the service before you even read the copy.

You probably have way better pictures from the field. Use them to your advantage. A great image will stop someone in the middle of their scroll. It’s like the show hoarders - hard to watch but you can’t look away.

I’ve mentioned it before, but I get a lot of inspiration by looking at other ads using the Facebook Ad Library. See what grabs your attention and focus on why. For example, if you’re offering mosquito services - a goofy mosquito animation won’t make you look twice, but a blood filled real mosquito snatches your attention.

Here’s one we made:

The ad above jumps in your face. Not to pat our own backs, but it has a lot going for it. No one wants their blood being drawn while sitting in the yard.

3. Service Specific Landing Page

We’ve written about this topic before, because it really is that important.

Your landing page needs to reflect your ads. A generic form just won’t cut it.

You might have award winning creative and copy, but if your landing page is lackluster, it won’t sell.

Making a great landing page for your pests control is not hard, but it is necessary. Testimonials are an incredibly powerful tool for a service like this, because they can see the social proof.

I strongly recommend you watch or listen to this video, it gives you exact specifications of what makes a landing page great.
